Amelia's Waltz is a traditional fiddle tune by Contra Dance Revival Pianist Bob McQuillen arranged for Clawhammer banjo and set to a ballad form.
Ashokan Farewell was composed by Jay Ungar in 1989 and served as the final song of the night or Summer Season at the Ashokan Fiddle and Dance camps near SUNY New Paltz. The tune is written in the style of a Scottish Lament and is similar in form, melody, and style to what would have been played as ballads during the Civil War. However, this is the only non Civil War era original that was featured in Ken Burns' documentary series "The Civil War", in which it served as the theme of the series.
